For many, 2020 was the most difficult year in recent memory. A global pandemic took the lives of almost 2 million people, caused social and economic havoc, and changed the way we live our lives – and usually not for the better.
Yet we were determined to use common sense, work together and listen to the experts while practicing social distancing and wearing masks. And it was working people, especially those in the health sector and other social services, that really came through and saved millions of lives.
A host of new vaccines are now being administered by those same health care workers, and over the next few months, will help to radically reduce the spread of COVID. It may still take a while, but things will get better soon.
On this New Year, the CCU commends those health and social service workers who risked their lives, so we can still have ours.
